Obituary for Michael Allen Gorman

Michael Allen Gorman, 67, of Greenwood passed away January 19, 2018. He was born June 11, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to William and Pauline Gorman.

Michael attended Drexel Gardens Grade School and Northwest High School. He was a US Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He married Constance “Connie” Marie Steeb on January 4, 1986 in Indianapolis, IN. Mike was a third generation carpenter, custom home builder, and president of Gorman Homes, Inc.

Michael was a founding father of Johnson County Habitat for Humanity, was a BAGI board member for many years, Johnson County Builder of the Year in 2002 and 2006 and BAGI Builder of the Year in 2007. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and recipient of the Spirit of Indy award (Catholic Social Service) any many other recognitions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Gorman and Pauline Bueche Bates and father in law, Bernard Steeb.

He is survived by his loving wife, Constance Gorman; children, Jason Michael (Betsy) Gorman and Tiffany Michelle (Jeries) Gorman Smirat; step father, Charles Bates; mother in law, Rosalie Steeb; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Barbara (Fred) Gorman Scott, Deborah (Jerry) Gorman Gillespie; brother and sister in laws, Ken and Sue Steeb, Denny and Beth Steeb and Karen and Brad McCaulla; numerous nieces and nephews and beloved pet, Ginger Gorman and grand dog, Ace Smirat.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm with a 7:30 pm rosary in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Catholic Church 8300 Rahke Rd., Indianapolis. Burial will follow in St. Joseph/Calvary Cemetery.
