All Greenwood area middle and high school students are invited to participate in the "True Meaning of Memorial Day" Youth Essay Contest presented by Forest Lawn Community Outreach.

The contest was designed to inspire the young people of our community to learn more about the true meaning of this special day. Participants should write 500 to 525 words in a personal essay format. Click HERE for official contest rules.

Six winners will share cash prizes totaling $1,600!

Essay submissions will be received through April 30, 2018 from students enrolled in Greenwood, IN area middle and high schools. Essay submissions from private, charter and home schools will also be accepted.

Final judging and selection of winners will be made by a committee selected by Forest Lawn Community Outreach. Decision of judges are final. Winners will be asked to read his/her winning essay during the May 28 Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance & Award Ceremony.

Winning essays will be featured on our website, social media pages, and other related print and electronic media.
