Lois Mae Mauzy (July 6, 1933 - January 14, 2018)

Lois Mae Mauzy, affectionately know as “Grandma” to many, went to the Lord peacefully and surrounded by her family in Greenwood, Indiana on January 14, 2018, at the age of 84.

Lois was born on July 6 1933 to Cora and Robert Homsher in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1951. In 1954 she married her sweetheart Ivan Mauzy and raised four children together. Lois worked at Airway (Target) for 30 years and retired in 1999. She was also an active member of Southport Christian Church for over 50 years. In her time on this earth she volunteered with many organizations but most notably the Hand-Capable Hands Center.

Lois will be remembered by her family and friends as an incredibly generous person who was always thinking of and doing for others. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and “Grandma” to her family and many who considered her family to whom she so lovingly offered her time, home and love.

Lois is survived by her brother, Charles Homsher; children, Phyllis Ratcliffe, Gary (Cammy) Mauzy, Dennis (Laura) Mauzy, Michael (Rebecca) Mauzy; grandchildren, Heather (Phil) Dickerson, Justin (Christy) Mauzy, Christopher Mauzy, David Mauzy, Matthew Mauzy, Megan Mauzy, Mark Mauzy, Macie Mauzy; great-grandchildren Jonah and Hazel Dickerson and Sloan Mauzy.

Visitation for friends and family will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18 from 4 - 8 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Southport Christian Church on Friday, January 19 at 10:00 am with calling from 9 - 10 am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lois’s life. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Easterseals Crossroads at 4740 Kingsway Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46205. The family would like to thank the nurses, staff, and physicians of Community Hospital South for the excellent care they gave Lois and her family.
